If you've ever dreamt of the perfect surf escape, let us introduce you to Seaside Tribe in Kedungu, Bali, Indonesia. Picture this – a laid-back haven tucked away on black sand shores. In a small and peaceful fishing village just outside of the busy town of Canggu, where the waves meet a community of like-minded souls.

Seaside Tribe isn't just a surf camp; it's a genuine blend of good vibes, salty air, local culture and surf camaraderie that makes you feel at home and part of the community. From dawn till dusk, this place is a sanctuary for those who live for the thrill of catching the perfect wave, relaxing, and exploring Bali. It is a “space where ancient traditions meet modern lifestyles”.

Run by a mixed Balinese and expat couple, Adi and Irene, Seaside Tribe is your home away from home on the magical island of Bali. Valuing sustainability first and foremost, Seaside Tribe exemplifies this with their natural cleaning products, bio septic tank that is able to feed water back into the ground, and infrastructure built with locally sourced and recyclable materials. Most of the furniture and decor used at Seaside Tribe has been handcrafted by local artisans, one of which is Adi’s father, who has upcycled boat timber, bamboo and driftwood. Furthermore, Seaside Tribe also recycles most of their waste, and composts all of the food waste from the kitchen. Any food that cannot be composted is fed to the Bali street dogs.

Seaside Tribe provides private rooms with shared common spaces, to ensure that you have your privacy, whilst also having the opportunity to meet new people and share stories of the surf together.

Surfing is at the centre of the numerous activities that take place in Kedungu. The main break at Kedungu beach is a super fun beachy with lefts and rights. When it’s small it’s good for longboarders and twin fin riders, and when it’s big, it definitely steps up to be perfect for more advanced surfers riding shortboard thrusters. There are also a number of waves spread out to the north and south of Kedungu, which the Tribe van can transport you to.

With warm water all year round, Kedungu works best specifically in the dry season (June to September), with good swells, offshore winds and more glassy conditions.

With daily surf lessons and board rentals on offer at Seaside Tribe, you will be sure to improve your surf skills during your stay. They provide a 2:1 student to instructor ratio, where every second day of surfing is filmed and analysed with you afterwards - to help improve technique and skill.

Other activities that Seaside Tribe offers and can be booked on site include, but are definitely not limited to, horseback riding on the beach, motocross adventures, Indonesian cooking classes, volcano and waterfall hikes, chocolate tasting and plantation visits. You can also book in for yoga classes and surf mobility training for extra fitness, as well as Balinese massages to rejuvenate, relax and heal the muscles.

Kedungu is Bali’s black sand paradise. Come and discover the island at it’s finest with Seaside Tribe.
